Effectiveness of WhatsApp as a Pedagogical Tool in Learning Phrasal Verbs: A Case Study at a Higher Educational Institute in Oman

This study investigates the effectiveness of WhatsApp (WA) in helping students learn phrasal verbs an English as a Foreign Language context. Using mixed-method approach, data were collected from 32 Level 4 General Foundation Program at University Technology and Applied Sciences, Ibra, Oman. The provided with 15 to be learnt used sentences within five weeks through WA. An achievement test was conducted fifth week measure learning. In addition, questionnaire survey interview investigate students’ perceptions regarding WA learning challenges they faced during process. findings showed positive perception WA’s tool. However, certain such distraction, poor Internet connection, time management found hinder their process considerably. Overall, highlighted possibility successful integration foreign language education strategies minimize maximize effectiveness.
